About the role

The Supervisor, Suicide Bereavement Counselling is responsible for the clinical supervision of counsellors in Jesuit Social Services’ Support After Suicide program. In doing so, the role reports to the General Manager, Mental Health and Suicide Prevention and works cooperatively with the Manager Suicide Postvention to ensure that the counsellors are well supported and high- performing.

About you
This role will suit a candidate with the following skills and experience:
- Tertiary qualification/s and/or relevant experience in field
- Experience in supervising counsellors
- Experience and understanding of people dealing with acute personal trauma and/or bereavement
- Demonstrated ability to foster a positive team culture
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
About the program
The Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Division of Jesuit Social Services includes Mental Health Wellbeing Connect, a service in Melbourne’s west for families and carers of people with a mental health condition and/or a substance abuse issue and our suicide postvention programs which provide counselling, outreach support, groupwork and online support to people bereaved by suicide.
The Mental Health and Suicide prevention teams also facilitate information sessions for the community and provide education to professionals to increase awareness of these issues and how to respond effectively and compassionately.
